MAC Viva Glam Rihanna: The Review!

I could sit here and say I don't buy into hype but I'm pretty sure you wouldn't believe me if I did so I'm just going to be honest and hold my hands up and admit YES I buy into hype virtually every single time, and the new Viva Glam by MAC was no exception! It's not that I'm a fan of Rihanna herself, although I like most of her music but there has just been something about the past Rihanna collaborations that has sucked me in!

Aside from that what I do like about MAC Viva Glam is that 100% of the proceeds go to the MAC Aids fund. which is great as most products that are linked to charities only ever donate a small amount so to have it all go to a worthy cause is a big thumbs up! Since MAC Launched Viva Glam with RuPaul back in 1994, 40 million has been raised for the charity, ALL of which has gone to AIDS related charities. There has been a few celebrity faces front Viva Glam and this year it goes to Rihanna.

Now onto the review...

I'm all about Reds right now (as well as pinks) and I'm always on the look out for a new red lipstick and this one jumped out to me, also I love the Red packaging which makes a nice change from the standard black bullet style.

Viva Glam Rihanna is a frost finish which to be honest I'm not normally a huge fan of but this wore pretty well. I had it on Saturday night and was drinking a few alcoholic beverages and it actually stayed quite well. I topped up twice throughout the night, which isn't bad at all considering what drinks were passing my lips! The colour is nice and opaque which I like as you really do not need to layer this on. It didn't dry my lips out at all, if anything it felt quite hydrating and as a result the application of the lipstick was easy as it literally just glided onto my lips. It's meant to have a blue undertone to it but on me and on the swatches I can't see any sign of blue.

Overall I'm very happy with Viva Glam Rihanna. The colour is nice and bright without it being too much and as I said it wore relatively well, especially under the conditions. One thing that normally puts me off about lipsticks is that my lips end up so dry, especially during these winter months but my lips were fine the next day.
It's not my favourite red from MAC but it's different to the reds I already have from MAC. I actually have a nail polish that will go perfect with this colour too, so that's always a plus right?!

Whether you buy into the hype or not, this is a red lipstick that will suit most people, despite their colouring so I do think it's a must have!

MAC Viva Glam Rihanna £15 but is now out of stock on MACS website... shocker why don't they ever make enough?! I'm sure it will come back in stock or you could always try your local MAC store or concession.

Did you buy Viva Glam Rihanna? Do you own any of the past Viva Glam lipsticks?

Until next time
