L'Oreal Infallible 24 hr Foundation | The Review!

I haven't bought a drugstore foundation for at least 10 years but when I saw the new L'Oreal Infallible 24 hour Foundation in Boots the other week I decided to just bite the bullet and see if the 24 hour claim was true.

For those that might not know, my holy grail foundation is Estee Lauder Double Wear! I've been wearing it for 11 years and although I own a MAC and Clinique foundation, which I do like, nothing has ever compared to my double wear. I have oily/combination skin, I like a full coverage and I like a foundation that is going to last on my skin all day, and when I say all day I mean I'm wearing my makeup for around 12 hours and very few, aside from Estee Lauder Double Wear actually last that long.

A few months before starting my blog in January I started dabbling more in drugstore makeup, but until now haven't made the switch to foundations. I've grown to love L'Oreal makeup more and more so thought why not just give the L'Oreal Infallible 24 hour Foundation a go. It's only £9.99 so it's not a lot of money to waste if it wasn't any good.

The foundation claims
It will last 24 hours
Flawless complexion for 24 hours
No transfer
No visible imperfections
No visible shine
No dry out
No mask effect

Now for starters this isn't as good as Estee Lauder Double Wear, but seriously what is? BUT what this is, is a  great drugstore equivalent. It gives I'd say a medium coverage, but it's totally buildable and didn't leave my skin looking cakey when I applied another layer, which is a good thing if you want a full coverage. It did leave my skin looking flawless and didn't sit in my pores. As for the no transfer, well I've never found anything that doesn't transfer... I loved that this didn't feel heavy on my skin and my skin felt like it could breathe, which sometimes is rare with long lasting foundations.

Now did I get shine and did it last all day? Well yes and no! I had shine on my t-zone after 6 hours, which isn't too bad and nothing a bit of powder wouldn't sort out, but on the first day of wearing this I didn't re-powder, just so I could see how it performed untouched. On the top of my forehead some of the foundation started to fade away after about 8 hours wear and after 10 hours my foundation looked a bit meh... BUT I've worn this since and found if you just blot your face or add a small amount of powder when the shine starts to break out the foundation will and does last for just short of 12 hours. 24 hours? Not for someone with oily or combination skin! What you do have to remember is that I work in a department store where there is bright lights all over the place, so makeup does melt that bit faster BUT on the plus side there are makeup counters next to me that I can go and just top up my powder :)

I don't expect a foundation to last on me for 24 hours. 8 hours I think is the minimum expectation that would keep me a happy bunny. 12 hours and I'm ecstatic. Anything over that I'm throwing me a god damn party!

I asked a few people at work what they thought of the finish and no one could actually tell (at the beginning of the day) that I had a different foundation on. I have worn this several times since and do recommend this for anyone who wants a long lasting foundation, with a medium to buildable coverage but who doesn't want a high end price tag attached to it! Would I repurchase this? Well I wouldn't be rushing out to buy it once I run out of it like I do with my double wear (or ask the Estee Lauder counter for a few samples if it's before pay day) BUT I would repurchase it when I had the money to.

This isn't Double Wear BUT it's a bloody good foundation for the price!

You can buy the L'Oreal Infallible 24 hr Foundation from Boots or Superdrugs for £9.99
