My name is Alice and I’m here to bring a corner of Alice’s Beauty Madness to Julie’s beautiful blog! I’ve been loving JustJulie since I started reading it for the honest reviews and great makeup looks. Today I want to share with you my Summer Handbag Essentials, those little things that I add to my bag when the first sun comes up.
I apply all my SPF in the morning but it often happens that I spend an hour in the sun during lunch break or after work, so I always carry with me a travel size Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration SPF 15 Sun Lotion to put on arms and chest when I take a lunch break in the sun. Not to forget the lips, I throw in my Labello Sun Protect SPF 30 lip balm. I have naturally dry lips and the last thing I need is to burn them. Same reasoning brings me to switch my hand cream to the Vaseline Healthy hands + UV protection SP15 which has me covered on that as well. I keep all of these bits in a little mint plastic purse I got at Hema to prevent any spilling damage.
Makeup-wise I make sure I have blotting paper with me to take off that mid-day shine, I use the inexpensive ones from Essence Sun Club Oil Control Paper or Catrice Blotting Paper. To make sure to postpone future oil I have with me a mattifying compact powder. My favorites for on the go are the Rimmel Stay Matte powder in Translucent and the Essence All About Matt! Fixing Powder. I learned from Shiv over at Letzmakeupblog.com to insert a cotton pad in the compact and use it to apply the powder. This way you avoid bacteria with a one use only applicator. Genius!
For my hair I make sure to stock up on hair ties and spring clips since I wear my hair up much more with warm weather, and to make up-dos with some dignity I have my Tangle Teezer Compact Styler (review here) always with me. Finally I make sure that I have my sun glasses, a small bottle of water and my e-reader. When I have time I love to stop at the park on my way back from work to read a bit in the sun.
These were my Summer Handbag Essentials, what are yours?
