Maybelline Color Drama Velvet Lip Pencil Review
As soon as I heard Maybelline had released some dupes for the Nars Velvet Lip Pencil I was all over that and rushed out to Boots to pick up one or two... well as you can see from the above photo, in true beauty blogger style I came home with nearly the whole range! But the question is, are they a good dupe?

I recently posted a review of the three Nars Velvet Lip Pencils that I currently own just HERE and I'm not going to lie, I absolutely adore them, but let's be honest, with them costing £18 a pop we were in desperate need of a worthy dupe and I think Maybelline have nailed it with their Colour Drama Velvet Lip Pencils especially as they only cost £4.99!!!

With 10 shades within the collection there is a colour for everyone, whether you like a nude lip or bright reds, there is even a perfect autumnal colour too. To look at they do look just like a large lip pencil and when I looked at them in person I immediately presumed they would be very drying as they don't have the creamy look that the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencils have. However that didn't put me off. Seeing as Boots had these on 3 for 2 (they still are as of writing this) I thought I'd be doing myself an injustice to not purchase several shades, after all, if they weren't any good it wasn't a lot of money to splash out. I'm pleased to say my first impressions were wrong.

These apply smoothly to the lips and have a slight sheen to them at first, which I didn't expect. Once they have dried and set on my lips they become matte and believe me when I say these bad boys don't budge! I actually wore one of these for the Cosmo Blog Awards on Tuesday (don't worry I have a post due about that evening) I drunk several vodkas at the hotel beforehand, I had way too many glasses of champagne during the night AND I even ate a Pizza Express later in the evening and my lip colour barely faded throughout the whole evening, not bad for a lip colour that only costs £4.99!

Also these didn't dry my lips out one bit. Normally after wearing a matte lip my lips are very dry the next day, but no, my lip were still quite smooth, which is what I've been seeking for from a matte lip colour!

Had Boots have had the full 10 shades in stock I would have bought them all, except the browny nude colour, that I know wouldn't suit me, but I'm really pleased with the shades I bought, all are very wearable for me.

As you can see from the swatches above, these are opaque with seriously intense pigmentation, aside from 'Minimalist' which is quite sheer. My favourite shades are 'Berry Much' which is the perfect Autumn colour. 'Light it up' Which I know will be my go to night out lip colour and 'In with Coral' which is one of the most beautiful coral shades I have ever seen!

I have nothing but good things to say about these, the colour selection is gorgeous, the finish is on point and the longevity is  amazing. If you haven't tried these yet then I would really recommend you run to your Boots store now and pick a few shades up!

You can purchase the Maybelline Color Drama Velvet Lip Pencils for just £4.99 each from BOOTS and can take advantage of the 3 for 2 offer that is currently running too!

Have you tried these yet? Are you a fan of Matte lipsticks?
