Ok my name is Julie and I'm an eyeshadowaholic. There I said it! But seriously, my addiction to eyeshadows is just heightened when you see a beauty like this. The Too Faced The Return of Sexy Eye Palette is a palette that I'd been deliberating whether to buy or not for months, finally I caved in and believe me, the name has this palette spot on, its sexy as f*ck!
Just a little warning here, this is quite a photo heavy post!
Firstly let me say that the packaging, design and layout is hands down one of the best that I've seen. To me this is pure perfection, this is like having three eyeshadow palettes all rolled into one! As you can see from the above photo there are 15 eyeshadows that have you covered from day to night. There's a neutral section, a pop of colour section and the standard smokey eye section. These are the particular colours that I tend to prefer and gravitate towards on a daily basis, so this one palette could actually do me for life, that's if I didn't own hundreds of other palettes that is.... Also included is a very large mirror, a full sized Perfect Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner in Perfect Black and a Deluxe Shadow Insurance to help keep your eyeshadow in place.
The first section is the neutral shades. All very highly pigmented with a gorgeous shimmer effect too. It's also worth noting that every single shade in this palette is shimmery, so if you're not a huge shimmer girl then you may want to give this a miss, however, if like me you just love to add a bit of sparkle to your look then this will be ideal for you! I'm not a huge fan of the more golden tones myself, however I love 'Casting Couch' and have been using this shade continuously.
The second section is the purples, all bar one. Now I do love me some purple eyeshadows as they really do make my eyes pop. All of these shades are stunning, however I have found that I've been using 'icon' the most, especially when I just want to wear a simple wash of colour and not do anything too crazy on my eyes.
Finally the last section is the smokey eyes. This has gorgeous, taupe, silvers, greys and muted black, this also contains my favourite highlighting shade '7 year itch' which I've probably used on every eye look that I've worn. It's gorgeous to pop over the top of any colour , or looks stunning just in the inner eye area.
Texture wise these are amazing, they are so creamy, apply beautifully and blend in so easily. The shimmer/glitter is not chunky at all and the swatch you see on your arm, is what you get on your lid. I'll be honest, there is fall out, but it's not too crazy, seeing as these are shimmers then a bit of fall out is to be expected. Lasting power is amazing too, these do not budge at all, especially if you use the Shadow Insurance which is included. This was the first time I've tried the Shadow Insurance too and I'm extremely impressed, however I will say that the pencil liner did smudge on me though.
Another thing that I love about the palette is that there are three signature how to guides included, using each of the three sections, these include a day and night look each. I honestly think this is a great little extra and is ideal for anyone who isn't too good at applying eyeshadows.
I think it's obvious that I'm blown away with the Too Faced The Return of Sexy Eye Palette I can easily see this fast becoming my new go to palette and dare I say get used a little more often than my beloved Stila in the night palette? The only thing I would change with this is would have been to have added just one or two matte shades to be used as a transitional colour, having said that it's not a huge bug bear of mine.
Once I get my new soft box lighting I will be posting some makeup looks using this.
You can purchase the Too Faced The Return of Sexy Eye Palette from Boots for £38.50
Have you tried this yet? Have you seen the Makeup Revolution dupe? I've had my eyes on that too, so if you would like to see a review/comparison of both palettes then do let me know and I'll order one
